SAN MARCOS, Texas – With one remaining match on the non-conference portion of the 2019 schedule, the Texas State volleyball team (8-5) will put its five-match winning streak on the line as they travel north of I-35 to battle No. 2 Baylor (9-0) at 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

SETTING THE SCENE
• Texas State has fared well in non-conference play and currently has the longest winning streak in the Sun Belt Conference at five matches.
• The Bobcats had a perfect weekend (3-0) at the Creeds & Crests Classic in San Marcos with wins over UTSA, George Washington, and Sam Houston State.
• As a unit, TXST has a .181 hitting percentage and averages 12.24 kills, 11.72 assists, 14.02 digs, 1.83 blocks and 1.43 aces per set.  Â
• Senior outside hitter
Cheyenne Huskey was named the 2019 Creeds & Crests Classic MVP after totaling 32 kills (3.20 per set) and had eight aces to lead the Bobcats. She also recorded 2.70 digs per set, four blocks, and two assists. Huskey leads the team this season with 3.22 kills per set and 22 aces.
• Junior middle blocker
Tyeranee Scott turned in a big weekend which garnered all-tournament honors, ending the tournament with 3.00 kills per set and a team-best 13 blocks. She is coming off a career performance where she logged 15 kills and matched a career-high seven blocks in the sweep vs. Sam Houston State. Scott is the team leader with 39 total blocks, including five solo blocks, and has a total of 69 kills, the third most on the team.
• Sophomore setter
Emily DeWalt directs the offense with 9.76 assists per set and has 2.20 digs per set, 30 kills, 15 blocks and 13 aces in 2019. DeWalt was tabbed to the Creeds & Crests Classic all-tournament team for the second consecutive year after averaging 11.4 assists per set in the weekend sweep. She also finished with 2.00 digs per set, eight kills, five aces and four blocks.

Jillian Slaughter ranks No. 2 on the team with 69 total kills and has 31 total blocks on the year. Junior libero
Brooke Johnson leads the team with 2.44 digs per set and has 46 assists and five aces, while senior defensive specialist
Micah Dinwiddie averages 2.42 digs per set and has nine aces. Dinwiddie has 1,591 career digs and is 55 digs shy from passing former Bobcat
Sierra Smith (1,646) to become the program's all-time leader.

SCOUTING BAYLOR
• Baylor boasts a 5-0 mark over opponents ranked in the Top 25 this season. They have wins over Creighton (No. 18, Aug. 31), Wisconsin (No. 4, Sept. 6), Marquette (No. 11, Sept. 8) Missouri (No. 17, Sept. 20), and Hawai'i (No. 13, Sept. 22). BU has won 27 sets and has dropped just two during non-conference play.
• The Green and Gold are 4-0 at home this year and are coming off a 2-0 weekend at the Baylor Classic with a pair of sweeps over No. 17 Missouri and No. 13 Hawai'i. Â
• The Lady Bears lead the Big 12 Conference in hitting percentage (.323), kills per set (14.79), assists per set (13.83), opponent hitting percentage (.174) and blocks per set (2.71).
• Junior outside Yossiana Pressley leads the nation with 6.00 kills per set and has a total of 16 blocks and four aces this season. She is followed by senior middle blocker Shelly Stafford who averages 3.00 kills per set but is also the team's enforcer at the net with a team-high 36 total blocks.
• Junior setter Hannah Lockin averages 11.66 assists per set, paces the team with 10 aces and adds 21 total blocks, senior libero Tara Wulf sets the defensive pace with 3.28 digs per set.

SERIES HISTORY
• The Bobcats are 28-18-2 all-time vs. the Lady Bears but are currently on a five-match losing streak in the series and are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings.
• Texas State's last victory vs. Baylor came on Sept. 10, 2013 (3-1) which was in Strahan Coliseum. The last win in Waco for the Bobcats dates back to Sept. 14, 1990.
• This weekend will be the ninth consecutive year the two teams have played each other.
