CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas State Volleyball fell to UTRGV in three sets on Friday at the Dugan Wellness Center.
Three different Bobcats (1-3 overall) posted at least five kills against the Vaqueros (1-2 overall) led by senior
Brooke Bentke with nine. Bentke also helped anchor the back row with 10 digs and recorded a team-high three blocks at the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats just could not get anything to click on Friday as the squad hit just .118 on the day to UTRGV's .340.
Neither side was without their faults but the Vaqueros' 12 blocks to Texas State's five made it difficult to gain any offensive momentum.
Bentke was a highlight for the Bobcats, however, leading the team in all three major statistical categories including kills (9), digs (10), and blocks (3). The senior also tallied one service ace on the day.
Texas State was able to tie the score nine different times and took the lead three times but were unable to hold the lead against UTRGV.
Alongside Bentke's offensive performance was eight kills from
Caelyn Robel and six kills from
India Bennett. Bennett led in offensive efficiency with a .556 [6-1-9] hitting percentage and Robel recorded a .462 [8-2-13].
