Bryan London II Named to 2019 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

SAN MARCOS, Texas –Texas State senior linebacker Bryan London II has been selected to the 2019 watch list for the 25th Annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Tuesday by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).
 
London is one of 92 defensive standouts being considered for the 2019 Nagurski Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation's Most Outstanding Defensive Player.  This year's watch list included defensive players from 65 schools in all 10 Division I FBS conferences and independents.  London is one of two Sun Belt Conference players on the watch list, joining Appalachian State linebacker Jordan Fehr.
 
Players may be added or removed from the watch list throughout the season. As in previous years, the FWAA will announce a National Defensive Player of the Week each Tuesday this season. If not already on the watch list, each week's honored player is added to the watch list. The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the 2019 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Nov. 20.
 
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner is chosen from the five finalists. The FWAA All-America Committee, using voting input from the association's full membership, selects a 26-man All-America Team and eventually the Nagurski Trophy finalists.
 
London II, a unanimous preseason  All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team selection by Sun Belt Coaches and Media,  Athlon Sports, Street and Smith's, Phil Steele and Lindy's preseason magazines, led the Sun Belt in tackles with 109 stops and 53 solo tackles in 2018. He finished atop the Sun Belt and ranked 45th nationally in total tackles per game at 9.1.
 
The mainstay in the middle of the Bobcat defense for the last three seasons, London II notched double-digit tackles in four contests with a season-high of 15 stops coming at Troy in 2018. London II also broke up two passes against the Trojans. He compiled 11 takedowns against Georgia Southern and 10 tackles each against Louisiana and South Alabama.
 
The Converse, Texas, native earned a bachelor's degree in management In August 2018. He also received a Texas State Academic Achievement Award in 2018.
 
London II and Texas State will open the 2019 season with a nationally televised midweek game at Texas A&M beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Central) on August 29.
 
Texas State plays its first home game in 2019 against the Wyoming Cowboys at 6 p.m. on Sept. 7. In addition to Wyoming, the Bobcats will host Georgia State (Sept. 21), Nicholls (Sept. 28), ULM (Oct. 10), South Alabama (Nov. 9), and Troy (Nov. 16).
 
The World-Famous Texas State Strutters, the Texas State spirit program, and the Bobcat Marching Band provide excellent performances at each of the six home games. Also, each contest includes fan-favorite activities like tailgating, the Coca-Cola Kids Fun Zone, fireworks, giveaways, and much more.

Fans can contact the ticket office via email by sending questions to gametickets@txstate.edu. Prices for season tickets start as low as $80 for one general-admission season ticket. Priority seating options are still available. Part of the purchase price for each ticket goes to the Bobcat Club, which continues to raise scholarship funds for Texas State student-athletes.
 
Texas State football fans can get a behind the scenes view of the football program by visiting the Jake Spavital "Game Time" Radio Show at Chimy's on Tuesday nights throughout the season. Seven hour-long shows will be broadcasted live from Chimy's beginning at 6 p.m. with the first show on Aug. 27. The remaining live shows will be on Sept. 3, 17, and 24, Oct. 8, Nov. 5 and 12.
 
All home games can be seen on ESPN+ or ESPNU. The online football schedule found at TXST.com will identify which network the game can be viewed. Fans can also enjoy any road football game with the rest of Bobcat Nation at Crafthouse for the official Watch Party hosted by the Bobcat Club.
