NEW ORLEANS – The Texas State football team had three players earn preseason team nods the league announced Thursday.

Senior linebacker Bryan London II was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Preseason First Team for the first time in his career after being named to the watch list for the 2019 Chuck Bednarik Award on July 15. He has also nabbed preseason honors from Athlon Sports, Street and Smith's, Phil Steele, and Lindy's preseason magazines. Senior linebacker Nikolas Daniels and senior offense lineman Aaron Brewer were each named to the second team. For Brewer, the preseason accolade is his second in as many years, while Daniels appeared on a preseason for this first time in his career. Daniels was also named a second team selection by Phil Steele and Lindy's.

BRYAN LONDON II

Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team
London II led the Sun Belt Conference in tackles with 109 stops and 53 solo tackles during his junior year in 2018. He finished atop the Sun Belt and ranked 45th nationally in total tackles average with 9.1 per game. In his third season as the starting inside linebacker, he notched double-digit tackles in four contests with a season-high of 15 stops coming at Troy. London II also broke up two passes against the Trojans. He compiled 11 stops against Georgia Southern and 10 tackles each against Louisiana and South Alabama.

NIKOLAS DANIELS

Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team
After a breakout junior campaign, Daniels was named All-Sun Belt Conference Third Team in his first season as a starter. He concluded the season ranked second in the league with 108 tackles. His 82 stops in conference play led the Sun Belt. In his 12 starts patrolling the middle of the 3-4 defense, Daniels tallied 7.0 tackles for loss, broke up four passes, amassed five quarterback hurries, and forced one fumble. He recorded a season-high 16 tackles against Troy, notched 13 tackles versus Appalachian State, made 11 stops against ULM, and 10 versus Georgia Southern. For his efforts in the Texas Southern game (eight tackles, one TFL) Daniels was named Defensive Player of the Game.

AARON BREWER

Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team
Brewer has been a stalwart on the offensive line throughout his time with the Maroon and Gold. Following a tremendous junior season, Brewer was chosen to the All-Sun Belt First Team Offense by Pro Football Focus (PFF) and was named Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt by league coaches and media. He started all 12 contests with six starts at center and six starts at left tackle. According to PFF, he graded as the best run blocker in the Sun Belt with a grade of 78.8 and second-best pass blocking grade in the league with an 86.2. Brewer surrendered just one sack in 2018.

Texas State begins the 2019 season on Aug. 29 when the Bobcats travel to Texas A&M. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised by the SEC Network.
