LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas State softball junior Christiana McDowell collected National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Central Region honors, the association announced Thursday.

"It has been great to watch Christiana bring her game up to a higher level this year," head coach Ricci Woodard said. "To put up the offensive number she did, not only at the plate but also on the base paths, is a huge accomplishment. It is always nice to see players get rewarded for their achievements and we could not be more proud of her."

McDowell earned a spot on the third team following a banner junior season. She became the 26th player under the guidance of Coach Woodard to claim NFCA All-Region honors. Texas State has had at least one representative on the All-Central Region dating back to the 2014 season. McDowell is the first Bobcat outfielder to secure NFCA postseason honors since Leah Boatright in 2010.

A 2019 Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, McDowell posted career numbers in her third season as a Bobcat. She finished the second in the Sun Belt in stolen bases (25), eighth among qualified hitters in batting average (.361) and walks drawn (28), and ninth in on-base percentage (.457) and hits (60).

McDowell led the Bobcat offense in batting average and hits. Her batting average ranks sixth on the all-time Texas State single-season list. She is one of 10 Bobcat hitters to ever reach base safely 60-plus time via hit in a single season. Her stolen base total ranks seventh in program history. On the defensive side, McDowell posted a fielding percentage of .972 with three errors committed in 106 chances in center.
