SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team (19-15, 8-4 Sun Belt) completed the three-game weekend sweep over the Georgia State Panthers (5-29, 3-9 Sun Belt) with a 6-0 victory at Bobcat Softball Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
KEY MOMENTS
- Junior catcher
Haleigh Davis ripped an RBI single back up the middle to open the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. The Bobcats scored at least one first-inning run in all three games of the series against Georgia State.
- Texas State tacked on four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Senior outfielder
Mari Cranek plated a run on a fielder's choice play before junior infielder
Bailee Carter delivered a run-scoring single two batters later.
- Cranek raced home on a double-steal play to improve the advantage to 4-0. The steal was the second of the inning for Cranek.
- Sophomore infielder
Tara Oltmann notched her team-best 28th run batted in on a sharply hit single down the right field line to score Carter.
- Freshman outfielder
Jordyn Smith provided the Bobcats with one more insurance run on an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth inning. The run brought the game to the final score of 6-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior pitcher
Krista Jacobs (2-3) worked the first 6.0 innings of the ballgame. She surrendered three hits and walk without allowing a run. The outing marked the second longest for Jacobs in her Bobcat career. She went 6.2 innings in a victory over South Alabama on March 15.
- Texas State accumulated eight hits from eight different batters. Six starters recorded a hit, while two bench players succeeded in their role as pinch hitters.
- The Bobcats were locked in during the crucial situations of the game. The team hit .400 (6-for-15) with runners on base and .500 (4-for-8) with runners in scoring position.
- Bobcat pitching held the Panther bats in check all weekend. GSU mustered three runs over the course of three games as TXST pitching posted a 1.00 earned run average for the weekend.
NOTABLES
- The win gives the Bobcats a season-best nine-straight victories, a streak that matches the longest stretch of wins from the 2018 season.
- Sophomore pitcher
Maria Flores made her Bobcat debut in the circle. She came on in relief to pitch the seventh. She worked a scoreless frame with one walk and one strikeout.
- Texas State has won seven-straight games against Sun Belt Conference opponents. Since joining the league for the 2013 season, the Bobcats have logged only three streaks longer. The 2018 team rattled off 12 straight to open conference play, the '16 squad captured 10 consecutive, and the '15 team tallied eight in a row.

- The Bobcats will head just north to Austin to take on the No. 9 Texas Longhorns at 6 p.m. on April 3 from Red & Charline McCombs Field.
