AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas State softball team (19-15) was run-ruled by the No. 11 Texas Longhorns (32-8) by a final tally of 10-0 in six innings at Red & Charline McCombs on Wednesday evening.
KEY MOMENTS
- The Longhorns wasted little time finding the scoreboard. Texas junior designated player Miranda Elish hit a two-out, two-run home run to right center to break the scoring seal.
- UT sophomore catcher Mary Iakopo hit a solo home run to left center to extend the Texas lead to 3-0 after three innings.

Haleigh Davis spoiled any chance at a perfect game for the Longhorns after drawing a four-pitch walk with one out in the top of the fifth inning. The next batter, sophomore infielder
ArieAnn Bell, chopped a single over third base for the first hit of the game for the Bobcats.
- Texas tacked on six runs in the bottom sixth inning to run-rule the Bobcats by the final score of 10-0. The sixth inning included a pair of three-run home runs without the Bobcats recording an out.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Krista Jacobs (2-4) pitched admirably for the first 5.0 innings of the game. She allowed four runs and stuck out on batter before running into trouble in the sixth. She was pulled after coughing up a leadoff double and a wild pitch.
- Texas outhit the Bobcats by a count of 14-2. UT accumulated seven extra-base hits, including four home runs. Texas State had one extra-base hit, a double from junior outfielder
Christiana McDowell.
- The Bobcats were shutout for the fifth time this season and the first time since falling 3-0 against Wichita State on March 2 in the Red and White Showcase in Houston.
NOTABLES
- The called attendance figure of 1,069 marked the largest crowd the Bobcats have played in front of this season and the highest single-game attendance at Red & Charline McCombs Field this season.
- Texas improves to 23-0 when scoring the first run of the game and 31-2 in game in which the Horns tally at least two runs.
- The Bobcats fall to 14-39 in the all-time series against the Longhorns and 7-23 in games played in Austin. TXST entered the game as winners of five of the last eight contests against UT.

- The Bobcats will be back in San Marcos for a three-game weekend series against Appalachian State. The series is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. on April 5 from Bobcat Softball Stadium. Â
