ABOUT TEXAS STATE
TXST enters the four-game week as winners of five-straight games. After defeating South Alabama in the rubber match of the series, Texas State rattled off four wins last week. Pitching was the key to success for the Bobcats in victories over Incarnate Word and ULM. During the last five ball games TXST has surrendered just five total runs and have held the opponent scoreless in two games. Texas State starters pitched 28.1 of the possible 33.0 innings of work during the win streak.
Senior outfielder
Kennedy Cline has upped her level of play during the conference slate for the second-straight season. A year removed from hitting a team-high .379 in Sun Belt play, Cline is hitting .333 (7-for-21) in league games this season. She has secured three doubles and three runs scored in eight starts against Sun Belt competition. Freshman designated player
Samara Lagway is hitting .273 (6-for-22) in conference games. She has hit three doubles and drove in four runs during Sun Belt action.
Sophomore pitcher
Meagan King (8-8) has been lights out in her last four starts, which includes three complete games and two shutouts. She has pitched 23.2 innings and allowed only three earned runs. King has shown great command of the zone, striking out 13 batters and issuing one walk. She leads Texas State with 81.2 innings of work this season.
ABOUT LAMAR
The Cardinal offense is statistically better than either of the two opponents Texas State squared off with last week. Lamar hits .245 as a team but does not hit for much power with only 30 extra base hits this season. LU has tagged 23 doubles, four triples, and three home runs during the 2019 season.
Senior infielder Savana Guidry leads Lamar with a batting average of .328 (20-for-61) in 19 games played. She has one double and five RBI to her credit. Freshman infielder Shaina Amir is hitting .324 (23-for-71) with four doubles and 12 runs scored in 31 appearances.
Junior pitcher Erin Kyle (6-3) has appeared in 11 games with six starts for the Cardinals. She leads the team with an earned run average of 1.35 as she has allowed nine earned runs in 46.2 innings of work in the circle.
ABOUT GEORGIA STATE
Sophomore infielder Caitlin Ray provides the offensive spark for Georgia State. She is hitting a team-high .318 (29-for-88) on the year with six doubles and one home run. Senior outfielder Remington Hasty leads the Panthers with three home runs.
As expected with a struggling team, Georgia State has had problems in the circle all season. The Panthers rank last in the Sun Belt Conference in ERA (5.44), runs allowed (187), and errors (44). GSU pitching has walked 116 batters and surrendered 24 home runs this season.
UP NEXT FOR THE BOBCATS
Texas State will briefly step outside of San Marcos to take on the No. 10 Texas Longhorns in Austin at 6 p.m. on April 3 in Austin.
