MONROE, La. – The Texas State softball team (13-15, 3-4 Sun Belt) survived a nail-biting 2-1 decision over the ULM Warhawks (4-24, 1-6 Sun Belt) on Friday evening at the ULM Softball Complex.

KEY MOMENTS
- Sophomore infielder Tara Oltmann wasted little time in plating the first run of the ballgame. Junior infielder Bailee Carter drew a walk and promptly stole second base to set the table for Oltmann. She delivered with an RBI double to score Carter.
- Oltmann struck again in the top of the third inning. As the leadoff hitter she crushed a solo home run to left field to double the Bobcat lead, 2-0.
- The lone ULM run came in the bottom of the fifth when senior outfielder Sydney McKay hit an RBI single down the right field line.
- Senior pitcher Krista Jacobs preserved the lead for the Bobcats in a relief effort. She induced a bases-loaded pop fly to end the threat in the fifth, keeping the Bobcat lead at 2-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Oltmann was the lone Bobcat to secure a multi-hit game. She went 2-for-3 at the plate and drew one walk. She drove in the only two runs of the game for the Bobcats.
- Both senior outfielder Mari Cranek and junior outfielder Christiana McDowell reached base twice via walk in the game. Texas State showed great discipline at the plate once again, as the team secured seven free passes.
- Sophomore pitcher Meagan King (7-8) earned the victory after pitching 4.2 innings in a starting role. She yielded one earned run on six hits and struck out a pair of Warhawk batters.

NOTABLES
- Texas State improves to 44-35 in the long-standing series between the two schools. The Bobcats have won five-straight matchups in the series dating back to March 25, 2017.
- The win gives the Bobcats three straight after beating South Alabama on March 17 and Incarnate Word on March 20. The streak is the longest of the season for TXST.

ON DECK
- The Bobcats will continue the three-game weekend series against ULM from on March 23. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at ULM Softball Complex.
