SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team lost 7-6 in 11 innings to Georgia Southern in a Sun Belt Conference game Saturday evening at Bobcat Ballpark.
Â
The Bobcats (22-20-1, 10-10 SBC) fell to 1-2 in extra-inning contests this season, while the Eagles (21-21, 11-8 SBC) evened up the weekend series at one game each.

GS scored first in the top of the third, but the Bobcats threw up a three-spot in the home half of the frame to pull ahead 3-1. The visitors then erupted for four in the seventh and an additional insurance marker in the eighth to land on top 6-3, but Texas State quickly tied the game in the bottom of the eighth with three runs of its own.
Â
That sent the game into extra innings, and the Eagles captured the win on an unearned run in the top of the 11th.

Jonathan Ortega and true freshman
John Wuthrich both finished with three hits and two RBIs for the maroon and gold.
