SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State University softball team (30-8, 11-0 SBC) will travel to Louisiana to take on the Ragin' Cajuns (26-10, 12-3 SBC) over the weekend. Saturday will feature a doubleheader with game one starting at 2:00 p.m. Game two will immediately follow the conclusion of the first game. Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Lamson Park in Lafayette, La.
Last Time Out for the Bobcats
• No. 24 Texas State narrowly edged Texas on Wednesday, defeating the Longhorns by a score of 2-1 at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
• The victory gave Texas State 30 for the season in 38 chances. Only twice before have the Bobcats reached 30 wins in the first 38 games of the season, once in 2001 when the team won a school record 52 contests and once a season ago when the Bobcats clinched an at-large bid into the NCAA Regionals.

Randi Rupp spun another gem, earning career win No. 100. She became the second Bobcat in softball history to amass 100 career victories, joining school-record holder Nicole Neuerburg (107 wins). Rupp pitched seven innings and allowed six hits, one walk and one run while retiring nine Longhorn batters via strikeout.
• The Bobcat offense managed seven hits off of Texas starter Paige von Sprecken, led by
Sierra Steimel, who went 2-for-2 at the dish.

Mari Cranek was credited with an RBI when she took an inside pitch off the elbow with the bases loaded. The hit batsman forced
Tara Oltmann in from third base.
Brianna Sannem delivered the game winning RBI, a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to center that scored
Bailee Carter.
Texas State Takes on Defending SBC Champ, Louisiana
• The Bobcats will meet up with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns for a three-game series. TXST enters the weekend as the top team in the Sun Belt Conference standings while LA has accumulated the most victories inside SBC play this season.
Inside the Series
• The Cajuns have dominated the all-time series against the Bobcats, taking 31-of-35 meetings between the two schools and 17-of-19 in Louisiana. TXST last won in Louisiana on March 16, 2004 in a 1-0 ballgame.
• In 2017, the Cajuns took four of the five matchup, including a pair of wins in the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship. Texas State's lone victory game in an eight inning thriller, 2-1, on April 15.
TXST Honored by the SBC
• The Bobcats have been honored with Player/Pitcher of the Week honors four times from the Sun Belt Conference so far this season.

Hailey MacKay was the first Bobcat to earn player of the week accolades, doing so on Feb. 20) after a terrific weekend at Arizona State.
Ariel Ortiz followed suit on March 13 as player of the week after tearing the cover off the ball in a weekend series against Georgia State.

Randi Rupp has won pitcher of the week four times during her senior campaign, Feb. 28, March 20, April 3 and April 10. She was honored on March 20 following a 3-0 week that included a perfect game, a win against a ranked opponent and her first save of the season.

Randi Rupp was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award on April 5, 2018. She was selected as one of 10 finalists who were chosen by national media from the list of 30 candidates announced earlier this month. Nationwide fan voting has begun to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the
Senior CLASS Award website through May 14. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award recipient for softball will be announced during the 2018 NCAA Women's College World Series® in Oklahoma City, May 31 through June 6.
