NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference has announced its 2018 football schedule on Tuesday afternoon that includes all dates for conference games, the initial ESPN television lineup and the date for the inaugural Sun Belt Football Championship Game.

The Texas State football team will play a nationally-televised midweek game on ESPNU and four conference home games. The Bobcats will play SBC home games against Louisiana, Georgia Southern, Appalachian State and Arkansas State. Texas State will travel to South Alabama, ULM, Georgia State and Troy.

The Sun Belt's championship game will be played on Saturday, December 1, and will air on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2.  The game will feature the winners of the Sun Belt's two divisions and will take place at the home site of the divisional champion with the best overall conference winning percentage.

The 2018 season will be the first year the Sun Belt has conducted divisional play, with two five-team divisions having previously been announced.  The East Division includes Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Troy. The West Division consists of Arkansas State, Louisiana, ULM, South Alabama and Texas State.

Texas State's 2018 schedule features six home games in Bobcat Stadium overall and non-conference games against a Big Ten Conference team, two intrastate opponents and a former league member. The Bobcats also finish the 2018 campaign against all five teams that represented the league in bowl games a year ago.

The Bobcats will continue their Sun Belt Conference schedule on Oct. 6 when they host Louisiana. TXST will be one of seven SBC schools to have an ESPN nationally-televised midweek game when it hosts Georgia Southern Oct. 11 on ESPNU.

Texas State also travels to ULM on Oct. 20 before returning home to host former Sun Belt member New Mexico State in its final non-conference game on Oct. 27.

The month of November features the Bobcats traveling to Georgia State on Nov. 3 before returning to Bobcat Stadium to host Appalachian State on Nov. 10. Texas State closes out its season traveling to Troy on Nov. 17 and hosting Arkansas State on Nov. 24.
