Texas State looks to win its second straight game when the Bobcats travel to Georgia State for a Sun Belt Conference game at 1 p.m. (CT) Nov. 3. Texas State is coming off a 27-20 victory against New Mexico State and enters the contest with a 2-6 overall record and a 0-4 Sun Belt mark. Georgia State also has a 2-6 overall record after dropping a 37-34 decision against Coastal Carolina to fall to 1-3 in the Sun Belt.  
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Texas State had 239 yards rushing on 49 carries as a team against New Mexico State. The totals are the second-highest in both categories for the Bobcats this season. Willie Jones III rushed for a career-high 110 yards on 19 carries and Robert Brown, Jr. ran for a career-best 95 yards on 17 carries against New Mexico State.
 
Texas State's defense enters the Georgia State game ranked among the Top 20 teams in the nation in three and outs with an average of 4.63 per game this season. The Bobcats are holding teams to three and outs on 35.9 percent (37) of their 103 drives in the first eight games.
 
Texas State recorded multiple interceptions in a game for the second time this season when the Bobcats intercepted two passes against New Mexico State. TXST also intercepted three passes at Rutgers in the first game of the season.
 
Texas State's two fumble recoveries at ULM mark the second time this season that Texas State has recovered two or more fumbles in a game. The Bobcats had three recoveries at South Alabama and that is the highest single game total by a Sun Belt Conference team. Texas State also recovered one fumble against Rutgers, Texas Southern, UTSA and Georgia Southern.
 
Willie Jones III made his fifth start of the season against New Mexico State, generating 223 total yards and being responsible for three of Texas State's four touchdowns. He scored Texas State's first touchdown with a 19-yard run and threw two touchdowns in the game.
 
ABOUT GEORGIA STATE
Georgia State plays its second straight home game against Texas State after the Coastal Carolina kicked a game-winning field goal with three minutes left to play.  The Panthers rallied from a 17-0 deficit and put up 511 yards of offense on just 59 plays against Coastal. Georgia State rushed for 280 yards, averaging 8.0 yards per carry.
 
Dan Ellington is a first-year starting quarterback and is third in the Sun Belt with 213.1 passing yards per game and total offense with 260.9 yards per game. He is completing 61.6 percent of his passes for 1,705 yards passing and rushed for 382 yards.
 
Junior wide out Penny Hart, a preseason All-American, leads Georgia State with 40 receptions for 571 yards and two TDs. He led the Sun Belt with a school record 74 catches for 1,121 yard and eight touchdowns in 2017.
 
TEXAS STATE vs. GEORGIA STATE SERIES
In a series that began in 2013, Texas State looks to even its series record to 3-3 against Georgia State.   The two schools met for the first time Oct. 13, 2013 in San Marcos after the Bobcats joined the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State edged the Panthers in the first meeting, 24-17.
 
Texas State also won 54-31 Nov. 29, 2014 in the first game played in Atlanta. The Bobcats have a 1-1 record against the Panthers in games at Atlanta's Georgia Dome after dropping a 41-21 decision on Oct. 8, 2016. Saturday's game marks the first time the Bobcats will play at Georgia State Stadium.
 
TEXAS STATE STORYLINES
Texas State is ranked 26th nationally in punt returns with an average of 13.43 yards per return after Hutch White returned two punts for 55 yards against New Mexico State. White set up Texas State's first touchdown in the game after he recorded a career-long 45-yard return against the Aggies. He also had a 10-yard return in the fourth quarter.
 
Texas State is ranked 18th among FBS leaders and second in the Sun Belt with two blocked kicks. Anthony D. Taylor's blocked a punt at UTSA and London Harris blocked an extra-point attempt at South Alabama. This marks the third straight season that the Bobcats have been among the top 20 NCAA leaders in blocked kicks. The Bobcats led the nation with eight blocked kicks in 2016 and ranked 19th with three in 2017.
 
Jeremiah Haydel caught a 39-yard touchdown pass against New Mexico State. Haydel led the Bobcats with two catches for 58 yards against the Aggies after recording four receptions for 17 yards at ULM. He enters the Georgia State game with 11 catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns this season.
 
Bryan London II leads the Sun Belt Conference in tackles for the second time in the last three years with an average of 9.1 tackles per game. London II had six tackles against New Mexico State after logging nine tackles at ULM. He led the Bobcats with 11 tackles against Georgia Southern, 10 versus Louisiana and South Alabama, along with nine in three other games.
 
Nikolas Daniels enters the Georgia State game ranked fifth among the Sun Belt Conference tackling leaders with 7.6 tackles per game after leading the Bobcats with eight tackles against New Mexico State. It is the second straight game in which he has led TXST in tackles. He logged a career-best of 11 tackles at ULM after he registered 10 tackles versus Georgia Southern.
 
Ishmael Davis enters the Georgia State game with 32 tackles after logging 16 stops in Texas State's last two games. Davis tallied seven tackles against New Mexico State after he logged a season-best of nine stops at ULM. He also enters the Georgia State contest ranked second among Sun Belt Conference leaders in fumble recoveries after recording his second fumble recovery against the Warhawks. He is tied for the team lead with A. J. Krawczyk.
 
Clifton Lewis, Jr. has started the last two games at strong side linebacker and recorded an interception and fumble recovery during that span. He intercepted the pass and returned it 23 yards against New Mexico State. He recovered a fumble at ULM. Lewis, Jr. had five tackles against New Mexico State after logging four stops at ULM and six tackles against Georgia Southern.
 
Anthony J. Taylor also recorded his first career interception against New Mexico State when he intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop a New Mexico State drive in the fourth quarter.
