SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team hosts its annual Teal Match in support of ovarian cancer awareness on Friday. The Bobcats host Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in the final non-conference contest of the season.
This season head coach
Kat Conner and the soccer team are raising funds in support of women fighting ovarian cancer through the
Goals2CureTM initiative. The players and staff are collecting pledges for each goal scored this season. Donations will go directly to benefit a scholarship program through the Texas Oncology Foundation.

The Bobcats enter Friday's match with a 1-3-1 record following a double overtime victory against Northwestern State and a loss at Stephen F. Austin last weekend. The Panthers are 0-2 and will be playing their first match since Aug. 20 because of Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath.
Six different players have found the back of the net for TXST this season.
Rachel Grout is the only player to have scored a goal and have an assist this season, tied for the team lead with two. The senior leads the team with four points. Also with two assists is
Jordan Kondikoff.
In net,
Kathryn Budde has started the last three matches and played every minute against the Lady Demons and Lady Jacks. She heads into Friday with a 1.27 GAA, 11 saves and a 68.8 save percentage.
Heather Martin has posted a 2.67 GAA and a 63.6 save percentage with seven stops while playing 135 minutes this year.
Scouting Prairie View A&M
Prairie View A&M will be playing its first match in 19 days on Friday. The Panthers opened the season with a 3-1 loss at UT Rio Grande Valley and followed with a 5-0 defeat to CSU Bakersfield that was also played in Edinburg, Texas.
Scoring the team's lone goal this season has been Paiton Maples, who also paces the squad with four shots and three shots on goal. Setting Maples up for the goal was Sara Batiste.
Clarissa Ledsema has played all 180 minutes between the posts this season. She enters the match with a 4.00 GAA, 16 saves and a 66.7 save percentage.
Series vs. Panthers
The Bobcats have won all 10 previous meetings between the programs. TXST has not allowed a goal in any of the matches. Last season, the Bobcats won 2-0 behind goals from
Lauren Prater and Grout while
Kassi Hormuth and
Kira Zapalac were credited with assists. It was the third straight 2-0 score line in the all-time series.
Friday will be the 10th meeting to take place in San Marcos. The lone match not to be played at the Bobcat Soccer Complex was on Sept. 11, 2005 which took place in Prairie View, Texas.
