NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced Monday that Texas State punter
Marcus Ripley has been named the SBC Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance at Colorado last Saturday, Sept. 9.
Â
Ripley averaged 45.9 yards on nine punts against the Buffaloes and booted a career-long 71-yard punt in the game. It is the longest punt for a Bobcat since Sept. 10, 2011, when Ben Follis had a 71-yard punt at Wyoming.
Â
Ripley also kicked a 53-yard punt, two punts of 49 yards and added one 48-yard punt in the game. He placed four of his punts inside the 20-yard line and had one touchback.
Â
This marks the second time in his career that Ripley has been named the Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week. He also was named on Sept. 5, 2016, after playing a key role in Texas State's 56-54 triple overtime victory at Ohio  when he made all six of his extra point attempts and kicked a pair of field goals in his first collegiate game.
Â
He is the second Texas State football player to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week honors this season as
Easy Anyama was named the SBC Defensive Player of the Week on September 4.
