COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – Texas State took a three-run lead into the bottom half of sixth, but Texas scored six in the home half of the inning and held on in the seventh to down the Bobcats 6-3. The loss eliminates Texas State from the 2017 NCAA College Station Regional.
Â
The Bobcats end the season with a 42-17 record, posting the third most wins in program history and the most since winning 46 during the 2003 season. Texas State concludes the College Station Regional with a 1-2 record. The game was the final in a Texas State uniform for seniors
Quincy Charleston,
Kimberlin Naivar,

Â
Texas (33-25) advances to Sunday's Regional Championship game against No. 9 national seed Texas A&M at 1:30 p.m. with the 'if necessary' game to follow at 4:00 p.m.
Â
Texas State's Charleston (8-3) carried a no-hitter into the sixth as she retired 14 of the first 17 she faced via groundouts and added a strikeout for good measure. She suffered the loss after surrendering four runs on three hits in her 5.1 innings of work.
Â
The Bobcats finished with four hits as Naivar,
Taylor Webb, Liscano and
Kennedy Cline totaled base knocks. Texas totaled five.
Â
Erica Wright (8-7) earned the win, working the complete game.
Â
Texas State advanced a runner to second in each of the first two innings, but came away empty handed each time.
Â
The first Longhorn reached base in the third via a Bobcat throwing error; however, Charleston retired the next two batters she faced on routine grounders to keep the game scoreless.
Â
Texas State broke the scoreless tie in the fifth with two runs on two Longhorn miscues and a hit.
Haleigh Davis led off the inning with a walk – the Bobcats' third leadoff walk of the game.
Bailee Carter followed with a sac bunt that was thrown into right by a UT fielder, allowing Carter to reach safely and Davis to take third. However, the throw in from right went wide of the intended target and into the third-base dugout, allowing Davis to score and Carter to take third. Two batters later Naivar chopped a single to the pitcher to plate Carter from third.
Â
Webb provided the Bobcats with a third run in the sixth with her 13th home run of the season, tying her for second on the TXST single-season list with Ryan Stukel's 2003 season. Webb's bomb cleared the wall at the light poll in left center as she turned on Erica Wright's 2-2 offering.
Â
Texas answered with six runs in the bottom half of the sixth, to take the game-defining 6-3 lead. The Longhorns collected all five of their hits and totaled a pair of walks in the inning. Tuesday DerMargosian singled to third to score Celina Felix for the Longhorns' tying run. Two pitches later Kaitlyn Washington cleared the bases with a double to the left-field gap and provide the 6-3 final
