AUBURN, Ala. – Texas State moved its win streak to four with its 3-2 victory over Liberty Saturday afternoon at the Wilson/DeMarini Classic in Auburn, Ala. The win moves the Bobcats to 3-0 at the event and 13-3 on the season.
 
Alex Cruz stole home for the game-tying run in the fifth, then in the sixth Christian McDowell launched her first collegiate home run to give the Bobcats a lead and Corinna Liscano drove in what became the winning run with two outs.
 
McDowell finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate, while five other Bobcats collected a base hit.
 
Quincy Charleston pitched the final 3.0 innings to pick up her first win of the season. Jodi Paige Williams started for the Bobcats, totaling 4.0 innings and a strikeout along with six ground outs.
 
Liberty scored in the bottom of the first on a passed ball after Autumn Bishop roped a leadoff double down the left-field line and took third on the throw. The Flames later put a runner on third in the third inning, but Williams ended the inning with a pop out to short.  
 
Texas State tied the game 1-1 in the top half of the fifth with Cruz's theft of home. Cruz, who led off the inning with a pinch hit single, moved to second on Haleigh Davis' sacrifice bunt and advanced to third on Kennedy Cline's ground out to second. Lexi Fryar then drew a two-out walk to put runners on the corners. With Kimberlin Naivar at bat, Fryar attempted to steal second base and when the Liberty catcher threw to second, Cruz broke for home and scored before Fryar was tagged out.
 
In the sixth McDowell went yard to left field with one out to break the 1-1 tie. Jaelyn Young then drew a two-out and pinch runner Jaclyn Molenaar stole second, setting the stage for Liscano's RBI single through the right side.
 
In the bottom of the seventh, Liberty cut the Bobcats' lead to 3-2 as Au. Bishop tripled down the right-field line and Sarah Robertson drove her home with a single up the middle. Amber Bishop made it three straight hits for the Flames before Charleston shut down the LU rally and ended the game with a weakly hit pop up to short.
 
Liberty's Elizabeth Engler (2-2) suffered the loss, giving up Liscano's RBI single in the sixth. Chase Cassady started and went 6.2 innings for the Flames, surrendering two earned runs and totaling three strikeouts.
