SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State returns from a bye week when the Bobcats travel to Conway, S.C. for a Sun Belt Conference game at Coastal Carolina this Saturday, Oct. 28. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. (Central) and will be shown on ESPN3 with Jeff McCarrigher and Stan Lewter calling the action. The contest can also be heard on 103.1 FM in Austin, 630 AM in San Antonio and 89.9 FM in San Marcos with Brant Freeman, Bill Culhane and Megan Trammel describing the action.
 
The Bobcats enter the Coastal Carolina game with a 1-6 overall record and are looking to win their first Sun Belt Conference game this season. Texas State has a 0-3 Sun Belt mark after dropping a 24-7 decision at Louisiana on Oct. 12. The Bobcats also fell 45-27 against ULM on Oct. 7 and 20-13 against Appalachian State on Sept. 16.
 
Texas State won its season opener against Houston Baptist (20-11) on Sept. 2, but dropped its last six decisions. The Bobcats enter Saturday seeking their first road win of the year after losses at Colorado (37-3) on Sept. 9, Wyoming (45-10) on Sept. 30 and at Louisiana (24-7) on Oct. 12. 
               
About Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina is in its first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference in football. The Chanticleers enter Saturday's game with a 1-6 overall record and a 0-4 Sun Belt Conference mark after being edged 37-29 at Appalachian State on Oct. 21.
 
Coastal Carolina began the 2017 season with a 38-28 victory over UMass before losing its next six contests.  The Chanticleers suffered a 30-23 loss at UAB on Sept. 16, a 52-10 loss against Western Illinois before opening Sun Belt Conference play with a 51-43 setback against ULM on Sept. 30. Coastal also fell, 27-21, against Georgia State on Oct. 7, and 51-17, at Arkansas State on Oct. 14, before the Appalachian State contest.
 
Texas State vs. Coastal Carolina Series
This marks the first time that Texas State and Coastal Carolina will meet on the gridiron. Coastal Carolina is the third of three first-time opponents for Texas State this year. The other two were Houston Baptist and Colorado.
 
What's Next
Following the Coastal Carolina game, Texas State returns to Bobcat Stadium for their final two home games of the 2017 season. The Bobcats host New Mexico State in their annual Homecoming game on Nov. 4 with kickoff slated for 2 p.m. Texas State also hosts Georgia State on Nov. 11.
