SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's basketball team will hit the road for the final time this regular season, first with a trip to Boone, N.C. to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Tip-time against the Mountaineers is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET at the Holmes Center.

Texas State enters Thursday's contest with a 16-11 overall record and 11-7 Sun Belt Conference record after earning the biggest victory of the season last Saturday against Arkansas State. The victory against the Red Wolves clinched a spot in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament for the Bobcats.

Currently, the Bobcats are sitting in fourth place right now with a one game lead over UL Lafayette and a two game lead over UT Arlington. If UL Lafayette and Texas State were to tie, the Ragin' Cajuns would hold the tiebreaker due to the season sweep. If UT Arlington and the Bobcats were to tie, Texas State would hold the tiebreaker over UTA due to the season sweep.

Games for the SBC Tournament begin Wednesday, March 11 at 11:30 a.m. (CT). All games will be broadcasted on ESPN3.

Appalachian State ranks second in the conference in free throw percentage behind Georgia State.

The Mountaineers currently sit one game ahead of Georgia State and UL Monroe for seventh place in the league.

The Mountaineers were picked to finish eighth in the SBC. Appalachian State is under the direction of Angel Elderkin, a longtime assistant coach in the Southeastern Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference, and Big East, who is currently in her first year at the helm of the Mountaineers.

Bobcat Tidbits
Junior guard Erin Peoples led the Bobcats in the victory against the Red Wolves, scoring a team-high 17 points. Peoples is now just 37 points away from 1,000 points in her career. When she does so, Peoples will become the 15th player in Texas State history to achieve the milestone.

Ayriel Anderson, Meghan Braeuer, and Taeler Deer also all scored double-digit points for the Bobcats against Arkansas State. Anderson and Deer each tallied 16 while Braeuer contributed 14.

Peoples and Ayriel Anderson are quickly moving up the all-time lists at Texas State. Anderson, is now fifth all-time in three-pointers made with 125.

Peoples has now moved into third all-time in blocked shots at Texas State and if she records one more, she will move into second. She also currently sits eighth on the all-time steals chart at Texas State with 154.

Texas State was picked to finish third in the SBC after finishing in a tie for third-place last season. The Bobcats look to improve upon last season's semifinal finish at the conference tournament and first-ever WBI appearance, the first postseason appearance for Texas State since the 2008 season.

This preseason, juniors Peoples and Anderson were both chosen to All-SBC Preseason Teams. Peoples, a 6-0 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was named to the First-Team while Anderson, a 5-3 guard from Irving, Texas, was named to the Third-Team.

The Bobcats are led by head coach Zenarae Antoine who is currently in her fourth season at the helm of Texas State.
