SAN MARCOS, Texas - At the Maderia Beach Classic, it would be an understatement to say that junior first baseman
Kendall Wiley hit well. Wiley's performance over this past weekend has dubbed her the Sun Belt Conference Co-Player of the Week recognition and helped lead the offensive charge to help the Bobcats obtain a 4-2 record for the weekend.
The junior blasted six home runs in six games over the weekend's tournament in Maderia Beach, Fla. Three of the first baseman's home runs were earned in Saturday's game versus Robert Morris where she had a perfect offensive game, going 3-for-3 in the batter's box. Wiley recorded 10 hits on the weekend, produced a hit in every game, and has now reached base in the Bobcats' past 15 games. Wiley's slugging performance lands her on the leaderboard for the Sun Belt Conference with seven total home runs and 42 total bases.
Wiley's offensive power over the weekend, now leads the team with seven home runs, a .396 batting average, 21 hits, 17 RBI and a slugging percentage of .792.
With an overall record of 9-7, the Bobcats will head to Auburn, Ala. for the Wilson/Demarini Classic. There, the Bobcats will play five games and take on Auburn, SIUE, Samford and Connecticut. For more information, check out www.txstatebobcats.com.
