Final Results

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas –
Due to inclement weather canceling the third round of the Delta Gamma Challenge, results were based off the first two rounds. Lora Assad came away as a co-medalist with her score of two-under-par, giving her the first win of her collegiate career.

"I am very proud of Lora's win at the Delta Gamma," head coach Mike Akers said. "She has worked very hard and her results are now catching up with her talent. Lora is a truly kind and generous person and couldn't be more deserving of success."

Assad had nine birdies on Sunday, second most among all players in the field. She averaged 2.62 strokes on her par threes, which was the lowest among the 75-player field. She birdied four of her eight par three opportunities on the day, including the par-three seventh hole in both rounds.

As a team, Texas State finished fourth, just eight strokes off the lead. The Bobcats carded a second round three-over-par 287, the second best score amongst all teams.

"The team showed great poise in the second round," Akers said. "We had to take a high score in round one and that placed us in a hole. The ladies really stepped up late in the day and made some birdies to move us up the leader board. All I can ask for is to be in a position to win the tournament going into the final round. We were in that position today but the weather didn't give us the opportunity."

The Bobcats will be back to the tournament at the BYU Invitational on March 16, in St. George, Utah.
