NEW ORLEANS- Brandon McDowell's 100-yard return of a missed field goal against South Alabama has been selected as the Sun Belt Conference Play of the Year in a fan poll conducted on the league's twitter page.
After a missed 53-yard field goal attempt by South Alabama's Aleem Sunanon, McDowell fielded the errant attempt and began his return up the center of the field.
When he reached the 10-yard line, McDowell raced towards the left sideline where the Bobcats had set up a wall of blockers.
After he eluded a tackler at the 50-yard line, he sprinted down the sideline for a touchdown to give Texas State an 18-6 lead with no time remaining in the first half. Following an extra point by
Lumi Kaba, the Bobcats went into the halftime locker room with a 19-3 lead. Texas State went on to win the game 36-18.
