BOONE, N.C. – The Texas State soccer team had its seven-match winning streak snapped Sunday morning as it fell to Appalachian State by a score of 5-0 in Boone, N.C. The Bobcats fall to 8-3 overall on the year and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
Texas State's seven-match winning streak was the longest since 2011 and the 8-3 current record still marks the best start in school history.
Appalachian State put up its first goal in the 15
th minute of the contest and never looked back. In all, the Mountaineers put up two goals in the first half and three goals in the second to take their first victory against Texas State in school history.
The Bobcats finished the contest outshooting the Mountaineers 12-10 and each team had six shots on goal. Texas State also recorded eight corners compared to just five by Appalachian State.

Lauren Prater led the way with three shots apiece.
Texas State will remain on the road for the next four matches including against Troy and South Alabama this upcoming weekend. Kick-off against the Troy Trojans is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Troy, Ala. For more information on the Texas State soccer team, go online to
