SAN MARCOS, Texas – After three games at home including back-to-back victories over UL Monroe and South Alabama, the Texas State women's basketball team hits the road once again for a two-game stretch against Arkansas State and UT Arlington. The Bobcats will first take on A-State in an ESPN3 broadcasted game Saturday afternoon. Fans can click here for the link.

With the win over South Alabama Thursday evening, the Bobcats enter the weekend contests with a 9-6 overall record and 4-2 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State is currently in fourth place in the SBC standings.

A Look At The Competition
Arkansas State is coming off of its first Sun Belt Conference loss Thursday evening to Appalachian State. The Red Wolves started the conference slate with a perfect 5-0 record before falling to the Mountaineers by a 70-69 margin.

Appalachian State and Arkansas State have already faced off against each other on January 3. In that contest, the Red Wolves downed the Mountaineers by a score of 89-75.

Overall, Arkansas State owns a 10-6 record after going 5-5 during the non-conference schedule.

Offensively the Red Wolves are led by Aundrea Gamble, the All-SBC Preseason Player of the Year, who is averaging 20.1 PPG. She is a 47.9 percent shooter from the floor and also leads the team with 5.5 rebounds per game. In addition to her work in scoring and snagging rebounds, Gamble has dished out a team-high 71 assists.

The Red Wolves are coached by Brian Boyer who is currently in his 16th season at the helm of the Red Wolves. In his time at Arkansas State, Boyer has become the all-time wins leader in the Sun Belt Conference. The 2013-14 season was perhaps the best of Boyer's historic career at A-State. The Red Wolves finished with a 22-12 overall record and a 14-4 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. It was the first time in school history that the Red Wolves had captured the regular-season Sun Belt Conference title.

As a result of last year's efforts, the Red Wolves were selected first in the SBC preseason poll while Gamble was selected as the preseason Player of the Year.

Bobcat Tidbits
With 15 points and 14 rebounds, junior center Kileah Mays helped lead the Bobcats to a 63-42 victory over South Alabama Thursday evening. Her 15 points surpassed her career-high of 10 that was previously matched against UALR on January 8.

Meghan Braeuer also had a career night against the Jaguars after hitting five three-pointers in the win. She recorded a floor-high 19 points for Texas State and her five made three's matches her career-high.

With 133 career steals, junior guard Erin Peoples is just five steals away from cracking the Bobcat Top-10 chart. She has 23 so far this season.

Texas State was picked to finish third in the SBC after finishing in a tie for third-place last season. The Bobcats look to improve upon last season's semifinal finish at the conference tournament and first-ever WBI appearance, the first postseason appearance for Texas State since the 2008 season.

This preseason, juniors Peoples and Anderson were both chosen to All-SBC Preseason Teams. Peoples, a 6-0 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was named to the First-Team while Anderson, a 5-3 guard from Irving, Texas, was named to the Third-Team.

The Bobcats are led by head coach Zenarae Antoine who is currently in her fourth season at the helm of Texas State.
