SAN MARCOS, Texas – Lejan Lewthwaite posted her best round of the season, shooting a 1-over-par 73, in the final round of the Minnesota Invitational. Her 73 was a 10-stroke improvement over her second round score, and her best round of the tournament by three shots.
Lewthwaite had two birdies on the back nine to help her rebound from a difficult front nine. She was 1-under-par on the back nine en route to her eventual 1-over-par score.
Lewthwaite's score shows the familiarity she has with the course, after placing fourth at the same event to open 2013, following a pair of even-par 72's to finish that tournament.
As a team, Texas State finished in 14th place, carding a final score of 932. That is just seven shots off the pace the team shot at the event last year of 925.
Texas State will not have much rest before its next event, as it competes next Monday and Tuesday at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo.
