SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team hits the road for more conference action on Saturday and Sunday as it is prepping to take on No. 20 UL Lafayette in Lafayette, La. Texas State is coming off of a 10-1 run-ruled victory over the Lamar Lady Cardinals on Thursday night.

A Look At The Ragin' Cajuns
The Ragin' Cajuns have most recently been tabbed No. 20 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll. Heading into the weekend, UL Lafayette is 22-6-1 overall and 11-4-0 at Lamson Park. UL Lafayette was picked to finish first in the conference, receiving a conference-high six first place votes and 62 points.

Natalie Fernandez leads the team with 46 hits, 11 more than anyone else on her squad. She has posted a .517 batting average and has an on base percentage of .613. As a team, the Ragin' Cajuns average just a tad over .300 and have outhit their opponents 244-176.

Haley Hayden leads the team with 10 home runs. Three other members of the Ragin' Cajun squad have recorded eight shots over the fences. UL Lafayette has had a history of hitting a lot of home runs as the Ragin' Cajuns hit 102 back in 2006.

UL Lafayette is under the direction of head coach Michael Lotief. Lotief has been either the head coach or the co-head coach of the Ragin' Cajuns for the past 11 seasons and has made it to the NCAA tournament in all 11 of them. He has compiled a 547-147 overall record at the school.

Bobcat Tidbits
Texas State bounced off of the three-game sweep last weekend against Texas Tech to defeat the Lamar Lady Cardinals by a score of 10-1.
Rayn House picked up her 16th victory and Texas State improved to 19-15 overall.

House is quickly approaching season top-10 charts and has found her way onto the career charts. She is now just one shutout away from the season top-10 charts and has already made the career charts with 12 total. For her career, she is eighth all-time in total strikeouts with 246. She is just 32 strikeouts away from cracking the season top-10 list.

Courtney Harris leads the squad offensively, averaging .341.
Timishia North and
Kelli Baker are also averaging above .300 for the Bobcats.
Jordan Masek recorded her first home run of the season on Thursday night, putting the Bobcats up 5-0 at the time against the visiting Lamar Lady Cardinals. Â

The victory on Thursday puts head coach
Ricci Woodard just 23 games shy of 500th career victories, all of which occurred while being the head coach of the Bobcats.
