WACO, Texas – A two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning by the No. 12 Baylor Bears made the difference on Tuesday night as the Bobcats fell by a score of 2-0 at the Getterman Stadium in Waco, Texas.
Rayn House put in all six innings of work for the Bobcats, allowing just five Baylor hits with three strikeouts.

The Bobcats (17-12) got a runner on in the bottom of the seventh, but a 4-3 double play by the Bears quickly diminished Texas State's hope of a comeback.

After retiring the first three Bobcats with strikeouts, Baylor got on the board first in the bottom of the first with a two-run shot to left field by Clare Hosack.

The two squads proceeded to hold each other scoreless through the remainder of the game with a total of five more combined hits.

The Bobcats first base runner of the contest came in the top of fourth inning when
Kendall Wiley made it to first on a walk with two outs. Whitney Canion, however, shut down the next batter,
Courtney Harris, with her ninth strikeout of the game. Canion finished the game with 10 strikeouts.

In the bottom of the fourth, the first two Bear batters up to the plate managed to find their way on base. Holly Holl, the second batter of the inning, hit a line drive single up the middle that Bobcat shortstop
Jordan Masek was just inches away from snagging on the fly. Texas State halted the Bears chances of scoring as House retired the next two batters on swinging strikes while Wiley scooped up a ground ball hit to first for an unassisted third out.

Bianca Prado recorded the first Bobcat hit of the inning, breaking up a no-no in the top of the sixth inning with a hard hit single to the right side of the Baylor second baseman. The Bobcats struggled to advance the runners, as Baylor worked its way out of the inning capped by a strikeout by Heather Sterns.

Baylor threatened to score in the bottom of the sixth, but with a runner on second and two outs,
Timishia North made a catch on the warning track for the third out of the inning.

Prado recorded the lone hit for the Bobcats as she went 1-for-2. Harris made several plays defensively for the Bobcats at third base that prohibited the Bears from getting more base runners on the paths.
