Softball Heads North To Baylor For Single Game

SAN MARCOS, Texas – After seven games at home, the Texas State softball team will hit the road for a single game contest against Big 12 opponent in Baylor on Tuesday evening. This marks the second game this season against the Bears as Texas State fell to them at the Gulf Coast Classic by a score of 11-1 on March 1.
 
The Bobcats hit the road after completing their seven-game home stand with a 4-3 record including a 2-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. Currently, the Bobcats are sitting in first place in the SBC.
 
A Look at Baylor
The Baylor Bears are currently ranked No. 12 in the country and are riding on a 10-game winning streak heading into the game against Texas State. Kaitlyn Thumann is a primary offensive threat for the Bears as she is averaging .482 with a team-high 85 at bats. She has recorded 41 hits including six doubles and three home runs for the Bears. Against the Bobcats earlier this season, Thumann went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and an RBI.
 
Baylor hits .330 as a team and has hit 21 home runs compared to 11 by its opponents. The Bears have also almost tripled the amount of stolen bases by their opponents. So far this season, the Bears are 33-of-43 compared to just 12-of-15 by their opponents.
 
The Bears are under the direction of head coach Glenn Moore, who is in his 14th season at the helm of the Bears. Coming into the 2014 season, Moore owns a 517-261 at Baylor and a 656-303 overall coaching record.
 
Bobcat Tidbits
After recording a career-high five RBI's against UL Monroe, Timishia North was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. The senior centerfielder finished the week with a .438 batting average while leading the team in hits with seven and runs with seven.
 
The Bobcats outscored their opponents 44-18 this week and in the two losses they suffered, they only lost by a combined three runs.
 
Rayn House earned her 13th and 14th victories this weekend and is now 14-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play for the  Bobcats. After shutting out the Warhawks in game two on Saturday, House now leads the conference in shutouts and is sixth in the nation with seven. House also leads the conference with her 14 victories. She is two victories shy of the national leaders.
 
The Bobcats are 31st in the nation in fielding percentage with a mark of .972.
