Bobcats Take On I-35 Rival UTSA Thursday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's basketball team will continue its two-game road trip this Thursday as the Bobcats travel to I-35 rival UTSA for a  7 p.m. tip. The Bobcats will then return home for one game before hitting the road for the Stetson Tournament on December 19-20.
 
This marks the 63rd meeting all-time between the Bobcats and the Roadrunners. The series is currently tied at 31 victories apiece.
 
13192A Look At The Competition
The UTSA Roadrunners enter Thursday's contest with a 4-2 overall record with victories over Abilene Christian, Lamar, Incarnate Word and most recently, UT Arlington.
 
Kamra King leads the Roadrunner in scoring with 13.3 points per game. She is also second on the team in steals with 13.  Akunna Elonu is the leading rebounder for UTSA, snagging 7.8 boards per game.
 
The Roadrunners are scoring an average of 61.8 points per game while allowing just 53.3 points for their opponents.
 
Lubomyr Lichonczak is the head coach of the Roadrunners and is currently in his second season as the helm. In his first season as head coach, Lichonczak led the team to a 14-17 overall record and 4-12 mark in UTSA's inaugural season in C-USA.
 
At the beginning of the year, the Roadrunners were picked to finish ninth in C-USA.
 
The Last Time Out
After getting off to a slow start against I-35 rival UTSA, the Bobcats ultimately fell by a score of 86-83 on December 22, 2013.
 
Then-freshman Kaitlin Walla had a career afternoon for the Bobcats, scoring a career-high 17 points as she went 5-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
 
Texas State outrebounded the Roadrunners 41-40 in the game and for the first time last season, the Bobcats shot over 40 percent from the floor with a mark of 44.6 percent (29-for-65).
 
Bobcat Tidbits
In every game so far this season, senior Meghan Braeuer has made at least two three-pointers for the Bobcats. In two games she has made four and in one she made a career-high five. Currently in the country, Braeuer is sixth in three-point field-goals per game (3.60) and 24th in three-point field-goal percentage (52.9 percent).
 
Junior guard Ayriel Anderson also finds herself ranked in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage. With making 45.5 of her shots beyond the arc, she is currently ranked 67th.
 
With a team-high 14 points against No. 19 Oklahoma State, junior Erin Peoples has now led the Bobcats in scoring in three games this season. She currently leads the team averaging 14.8 points per game with four double-digit scoring games this season.
 
In the latest NCAA rankings, the Bobcats have found themselves currently 16th in the country in three-point field-goal percentage with a mark of 41.0 percent. This mark also puts the Bobcats first in the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State also ranks first in the conference and 25th in the country in three-point field goals per game with 8.2.
 
Peoples, a 6-0 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was named to the First-Team while Anderson, a 5-3 guard from Irving, Texas, was named to the Third-Team. Texas State was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt Conference by the league coaches.
 
Head coach Zenarae Antoine enters her fourth season at the helm of the Texas State program.
