MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 3 seeded Texas State soccer team lives to see another day after defeating No. 6 Georgia State in the quarterfinal round of the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Mobile, Ala. The Bobcats scored in the middle of the first half and ultimately defeated the Panthers by a score of 1-0.

With the victory, Texas State improves to 11-6-2 overall and will now await the winner of the No. 2 Troy/No. 7 UL Lafayette.

In the 25
th minute, Texas State had its first good scoring opportunity as the duo of
Lynsey Curry and
Tori Hale broke away from the Panther defense. Hale's final touch, however, was just hard enough to come out of reach and the Georgia State goalkeeper came in for the stop.

th minute of action with the first and only goal of the contest.
Taylor Allen took the ball all the way up the left side of the field to ultimately serve it to Hale for a one touch cross into Curry for her seventh goal of the season. Curry headed the ball right in front of the goal. Allen and Hale were credited with the assists.

Texas State had another opportunity in the 40
th minute as Georgia State committed a foul just outside of the box.
Landry Lowe took the initial free kick that deflected off of a Panther that ultimately ended back in the possession of Lowe. Lowe then fired a shot that hit the right post, denying the Bobcats of another goal.

Texas State proceeded to fire off eight total shots in the first half compared to just three by the Panthers.

In the second half Georgia State put more pressure on the Bobcat defense, but Texas State buckled down and denied the Panthers of tying the game up.
Elizabeth Havenhill notably played solid defense as she shut down Georgia State's leading scorer, Whitney Ravan and held her to just one shot the entire contest.

Texas State continued to have opportunities throughout the second half, but were shut down by the Panther defense.

The Bobcats concluded the contest with 15 shots while allowing just six by the Panthers. Curry led all players on the field with four, two of which, were on goal.
