Tournament Information
San Marcos, Texas – Texas State women's golf team will host its second tournament of the spring on Monday and Tuesday at Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin. It is the fourth consecutive year the tournament has been hosted at Onion Creek.
The Bobcats enter the event in search of program history. The team is one off the school record of three team tournaments won, set last season. This year Texas State has won two tournaments, the Chris Banister Classic to open the year in Alabama and the Jim West Challenge in Blanco, Texas last month.
Individually Krista Puisite can tie a season record for most individual wins in a season after winning her last tournament at the Mountain View Collegiate, giving her two on the year. That win gave her the career record at Texas State with at least a share of four tournament titles, one in 2010-11, one last year and two this season.
Texas State enters the Challenge at Onion creek as the second highest ranked team in the field. Texas State is No. 36 in the latest Golfstat rankings, trailing just Texas Tech who will begin the tournament with a ranking of No. 16 nationally. Other teams in the field include Gonzaga, Washington State, Iowa, Arkansas Little Rock, Idaho, Kennesaw State, Eastern Michigan, Seattle, IUPUI, Stephen F. Austin and South Dakota State.
The event will feature 36 holes on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the final 18 holes beginning at 8:00 a.m., on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
