San Marcos, Texas
– Texas State played its final WAC home game today versus Idaho, as it honored its three seniors before the game. The Bobcats fell to Idaho, 90-81 at Strahan Coliseum.

Today was the first time this season that all five Bobcat starters finished in double figures. Senior Matt Staff led the way with 22 points and five rebounds. Juniors Deonte' Jones and Joel Wright tallied 12 points, while Reid Koenen and Phil Hawkins chipped in 11 points each. Texas State shot 46.2 percent from the floor, and 84.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Texas State (9-20, 4-12 WAC) trailed by 10 points with 2:12 to go in the first, but free throws by Staff and Wright coupled with a pair of treys by Jones in the last 30 seconds cut Idaho's lead to two entering the half.

Jones continued where he left off from the first half as he drained triple to start the second half and put Texas State up 42-41.

Both teams traded baskets over the next two minutes, but Idaho (11-17, 6-11 WAC) began to shoot the ball well and took a 15-point lead on a jumper by Kyle Barone with 13:57 to go.

The Bobcats cut Idaho's lead down to four points thanks to a layup by Staff, but a few minutes later the Vandals went on a 10-0 run to go up by 14 points.

Three pointers by Koenen and Hawkins, plus a jumper by Vonn Jones brought Texas State to within six points with 1:11 remaining in the game. The Bobcats began to foul with hopes that the Vandals would miss a few free throws, but the visitors went 8-of-10 from the charity stripe in the final minute of play and came away with the win.

Barone led Idaho with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds, in addition to three blocked shots. Connor Hill added 22 points, while Stephen Madison had 20. The Vandals shot 55.6 percent from the field, and 77.4 percent from the charity stripe.

Texas State will hit the road for its final two games of the regular season. The Bobcats will play Utah State on Thursday, March 7, and the face San Jose State on Saturday, March 9.
