Houston, Texas – Texas State dropped a 7-0 decision to Houston on the final day of the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic. The Bobcats finished the tournament 0-5.

Houston scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, followed by two more in the second inning to jump out to an early 5-0 lead.

The Bobcats threatened in the third inning. Brooke Keel had a leadoff single, followed by a walk by Brooke Baker two batters later to put runners at first and second. Katie Doerre recorded a two-out single to load the bases with Coralee Ramirez on deck. Ramirez flied out to right field to end the threat and the inning.

The Cougars tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning after scoring on a passed ball and a single.

Texas State was unable to fight back, as it fell to Houston today at Cougar Softball Stadium. It was the first game this season that the Bobcats were held scoreless.

Rayn House (0-1) suffered the loss in the circle today, while four different Bobcats collected a hit this afternoon.

Texas State will hit the field again next weekend when it travels to Louisiana. The Bobcats will participate in the 27^th Annual Lafayette Classic from Feb. 16-17. Texas State will play host Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi Valley State.
