New Orleans, La. – The Sun Belt Conference announced on Wednesday afternoon that Texas State sophomore running back
Robert Lowe and senior safety
Justin Iwuji have been selected to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second-Team in a poll of SBC coaches and selected media members.
David Mayo and
Michael Orakpo earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Lowe ran for 945 yards and nine touchdowns on 164 carries in 2013. He ranked second among Sun Belt Conference rushing leaders with 78.8 yards per game and four 100-yard games. He also caught 19 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown out of the backfield and ranked eighth among the league's scoring leaders with 5.0 points per game after scoring 10 touchdowns.

The Waxahachie, Texas native also had three of the top 10 rushing performances in the Sun Belt this season with a career-best 177 yards and a touchdown against Georgia State, 140 yards versus ULM and 138 yards and three touchdowns against Wyoming.

Iwuji recorded 36 tackles, including 26 solo stops and ranked sixth among Sun Belt leaders with three interceptions. The Carrollton, Texas native returned one interception 29 yards for a touchdown in Texas State's victory over South Alabama. He returned another interception 27 yards against Georgia State and a third 24 yards versus Texas Tech.Â

A four-year letterman and two-year starter at Texas State, he registered a season-best of seven tackles at Arkansas State, and tallied six solo tackles and broke up a pass against Wyoming. He also recorded five stops versus South Alabama. Iwuji also recorded 3.5 tackles for loss overall.

Mayo's 8.9 tackles per game ranked fourth among league leaders. He recorded a career-best of 16 tackles at Troy and 13 stops at Louisiana. He also had 11 tackles against ULM. Mayo also ranked second among league leaders with four interceptions.

Orakpo was seventh among league leaders with 4.5 quarterback sacks and ninth in tackle for losses with recording 10 for losses of 38 yards. He also tied for second among conference leaders with three forced fumbles. Orakpo recorded a career-best of 11 tackles at Idaho.

Western Kentucky senior running back Antonio Andrews was named the SBC Player and Offensive Player of the Year on Wednesday after leading Division I FBS in all-purpose yards and leading the Sun Belt in rushing yards with a school-record 1,730 yards. He also scored 16 touchdowns was named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award.

Western Kentucky senior linebacker Xavius Boyd earned the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year award after leading the conference in tackles for loss (15.5) and sacks (8.5). He led the Hilltoppers in total tackles with 103 and was one of four defensive players in the conference to eclipse 100 tackles this season.

UL-Lafayette running back Elijah McGuire earned Freshman of the Year honors after rushing for 805 yards and ranking second nationally with 9.0 yards per carry.

South Alabama head coach Joey Jones earned the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year award after he led the Jaguars to their first bowl-eligible season in school history. The Jaguars won their final three games of the season to even their record at 6-6 on the year.
