San Marcos, Texas
– In a game that was within four points for each of the last eight minutes, the Texas State women's basketball team came up just short, 61-58 to New Mexico State, Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum.

In a situation similar to Thursday's heartbreaker in overtime against Denver, the Bobcats got off the last shot, being down three in the final seconds. With 7.8 seconds to go, down Erin Peoples got a pass and passed it over to the top of the arc for Diamond Ford, whose shot was just off the mark, allowing the Aggies to hold on for the win.

Earlier in the second half the Bobcats found themselves down 50-41, before Erin Peoples and Ayriel Anderson hit back-to-back threes to make it a three-point game. The Bobcats eventually tied the game back up at 54-54 with 4:15 to go.

The run was much like the one Texas State went on in the first half. Down 20-12 in the first half, the team went on a 13-5 run to tie the game at 25-25. During the stretch, five different Bobcats scored including Raven Burns who hit one of her three first-half three-pointers. She finished the half with nine points.

Defensively, the Bobcats limited the Aggies to 23-of-66 shooting for just a 34.8 percentage from the field. Peoples contributed to the cause, coming up with three blocks, including one late in the second half to keep the game just a two-possession contest.

Texas State will head on the road next week for a two-game roadtrip, beginning Thursday at Louisiana Tech. The game will tipoff at 7:00 p.m., in Ruston, La., and be broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM.
