San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State women's basketball made a furious rally in the final minutes of the game, but it was not enough as the Bobcats fell to the first place Seattle Redhawks, 70-58, Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum.

Down 62-47 with 3:09 to go, the Bobcats mounted their charge. During the run, Diamond Ford had a layup off a pass from Kaylan Martin to her at the high post. Ford then made two free throws before hitting a left corner three to cut the deficit to 62-58 with 1:41 to go. In total, Ford had nine of her team-high 23 during the stretch.

After Ford's three, Martin was able to steal the inbound pass and drive to the lane in an attempt to cut the lead to two, but her shot went off the rim and Seattle was able to make free throws down the stretch to ice the game.

Much like Thursday night, Texas State came out of the gate on fire offensively, with 18 points in the first 10 minutes. Seattle was able to keep pace early on as the game was tied at 20-20 . From there the Redhawks went on an 11-0 run to take a 31-20 lead.

In a difference from Thursday night, the Bobcats made a late half surge, as Diamond Ford hit a left wing three to cut the lead to 31-26 at half. She finished the first half with 10 points, joining Jasmine Baugus as the team leaders in that category through 20 minutes.

The Bobcats will head to the road next week to begin the second half of WAC play. Texas State visits New Mexico State Thursday night in Las Cruces, N.M. The game can be heard on KTSW 89.9 FM.
