Huntsville, Ala. – The Texas State women's golf team opens its 2012-13 season, Sunday at the Chris Banister Classic. The tournament, hosted by Jacksonville State, runs from Sunday through Tuesday at Silver Lakes Golf Club, outside Huntsville, Ala.

The Bobcats are coming off their third NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Mike Akers last season. Texas State will return four of the five players that competed in the NCAA Regional, and seven of eight players overall. The lone newcomer to the team is Lora Assad, a freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Competing for the Bobcats this week will be Krista Puisite, Mara Puisite, Valdis Jonsdottir, Lejan Lewthwaite, Iman Nordin and the newcomer Assad.
