Men's Golf Releases 2012-13 Schedule

San Marcos, Texas – Texas State men's golf released its 2012-13 schedule, Thursday. The coast-to-coast schedule will see the Bobcats play in seven states, ranging from South Carolina to Nevada. It is the team's first and only season in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Bobcats begin the season at perhaps the most difficult course they will face all year, Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. Site of the 2012 PGA Championship, Texas State will open up the year at one of the most difficult courses in America, Sept. 9-11. Hosted by the College of Charleston, other notable teams in the field include Florida and Houston.

Following the Invitational at the Ocean Course, Texas State will head to Boulder, Colo., Sept. 24, for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado.

Texas State finishes the fall with three tournaments in the southwest. First up is the first of two trips to La. Tech on the year, at the Squire Creek Invitational, Oct. 1-2.

The program's first Texas tournament of the year comes in mid-October at the Lone Star Invitational, Oct. 14-16, hosted by UTSA.

The Bobcats end the fall at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, an annual event hosted by WAC opponent New Mexico State, Oct. 22-23.

The players will get a three-and-a-half month break from competition, before beginning the spring in San Antonio, Feb. 11-12 at the Oak Hills Invitational.

Following a pair of Louisiana tournaments in March, the Bobcats make another trip to the Border Olympics, March 15-16 ending a stretch of three tournaments in 11 days.

The year closes with three new courses for the Bobcats, beginning with the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate, April 1 and 2, hosted by Ole Miss.

Texas State ends the regular season with its tournament, the Jim West Intercollegiate at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The course is regarded as one of the top 10 courses in the state of Texas by Golf Digest. It also plays host to the Web.com Tour Championship in 2012. The Web.com tour is the premier feeder tour to the PGA Tour.

The WAC Conference Championship is held in Las Vegas, from April 29-May 1. The winner earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship field, beginning May 16 at sites to be determined.
