Texas State Men’s Hoops Releases 2012-13 Schedule

– The Texas State men's basketball team announced its 2012-13 schedule Tuesday. The Bobcats will host six non-conference games, before opening Western Athletic Conference play at home on December 29 versus San Jose State. Before the season begins, the Bobcats will make a six-day trip to Costa Rica to play in an international tour from August 13-18. The tour is the second international trip in three years for the Bobcats.    

Bobcat fans will get their first look at the new team on Nov. 9 when Texas State hosts Fordham to open the season. Texas State will play UT Tyler on Nov. 13, before facing hall of fame coach Larry Brown and the SMU Mustangs on Nov. 17 at Strahan Coliseum. Texas State will then travel to Alaska for the 2012 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout. The tournament will run from Nov.21-24, with the Bobcats facing Charlotte on Nov. 22. Also playing in the tourney will be host Alaska-Anchorage, UC Riverside, Northeastern, Belmont, Loyola Marymount and Oral Roberts. Select games will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

The rest of the Bobcats non-conference slate includes home games versus Utah (Nov. 30), Oral Roberts (Dec. 5) and UT Pan American (Dec. 8). Non-conference road games will be played at Texas (Dec. 15), Northwestern (Dec. 17), Central Michigan (Dec. 20) and an ESPN BracketBuster road game to be announced later on in the season.

Texas State will play its first WAC game against San Jose State at home on Dec. 29. Other conference home games will be Utah State (Dec. 31), Louisiana Tech (Jan. 10), UT Arlington (Jan. 12), New Mexico State (Jan. 31), Denver (Feb. 2), UTSA (Feb. 16), Seattle (Feb. 28) and Idaho (March 3).

The Bobcats will make road trips to conference foes Denver (Jan. 3), New Mexico State (Jan. 5), Idaho (Jan. 24), Seattle (Jan. 26), UT Arlington (Feb. 7), Louisiana Tech (Feb. 9), Utah State (March 7) and San Jose State (March 9).

The Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be held in Las Vegas, Nev., March 13-16.
