Women's Basketball Looks To Clinch Spot In Southland Conference Tournament Saturday On Senior Day

Notes

San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State women's basketball team will look to clinch a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament on Saturday, when it hosts UTSA at 2:00 p.m., at Strahan Coliseum. Prior to the game there will be a Senior Day ceremony, honoring India Johnson, Verinus Kalu and Kelsey Krupa.

Following the win on Wednesday night against Southeastern Louisiana, the Bobcats are in a spot to clinch their first berth to the SLC Tourney since 2008. Texas State can earn the berth one of two ways. Either by beating UTSA or by having both Southeastern Louisiana and UT Arlington lose Saturday.

Also motivation for the Bobcats on Saturday, is to have the seniors beat UTSA for the first time in their last game at Strahan Coliseum. The Roadrunners currently own a seven-game win streak over Texas State, the longest in the history between the two schools since Texas State won 15 straight from 1990-97.

Diamond Ford will look to lead the team to its first win over UTSA, as she approaches the top 10 list for more points in a season. She currently sits one point out of 10th with 503 points. Carlotta Fisbeck owns the Texas State record for most points in a season with 633.

With Saturday marking the last home game of the season for the Bobcats, the team will take to the road for the final two regular season games, beginning Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., in Beaumont against Lamar.
