Game Notes

 

San Marcos, Texas –Texas State will play Southeastern La. at the University Center in Hammond, La., Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Toyota Game of the Week on the Southland Conference Television Network. Both teams hold a 3-9 record in conference play as they fight to make the conference tournament.

Series

Wednesday will mark the 33rd meeting between Texas State and Southeastern La. The teams will play for the fifth time in two years, with the Bobcats winning the last two outings. Southeastern La. leads the all-time series, 17-15.

Scouting Texas State

Texas State edged South Dakota on Saturday night in its Sears BracketBuster game, Brooks Ybarra netted a career-high 29 points, including a pair of free throws to help sink the Coyotes on the road.

The Bobcats continue to lead the SLC in scoring offense (78.4 ppg). Texas State is fourth in field goal percentage (.438) and second in three-point percentage (.369).

Texas State sits in fifth place in the SLC West Division with an 11-15 overall record and a 3-9 record in league play.

Scouting Southeastern La.

Southeastern Louisiana is 10-15, 3-9 in SLC play. The Lions are 10-3 at home this season.

The Coyotes are on a two-game losing streak with its most recent loss coming at IUPUI, 88-70 on Feb. 15.

 

The Lions beat UT Martin at home in their Sears BracketBuster game on Saturday to bounce back from a 70-54 loss at Lamar earlier in the week.

 

The Lions are led in scoring by guard Brandon Fortenberry who is averaging 17.6 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Forward Roosevelt Johnson is the Lions second leading scorer with 10.7 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Southeastern La. is last in the league in scoring at 53.9 ppg, and last in field goal percentage with an average of 39 percent.

 

Up Next

Texas State will continue its three-game road trip at UTSA on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats will host Lamar on Feb. 29 and Sam Houston State on Mar. 3 to close out the regular season.
