Logan, Utah – Utah State had seven three-point field goals in the first half, and never looked back, as the Texas State women's basketball team fell 82-69, Monday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah.
Utah State was up from the tip, racing out to a 15-0 lead. Devyn Christensen was a big part of the Aggies' success, with three early three-point field goals.
Texas State tried to force its way back in the game as Diamond Ford and Ashley Ezeh paced the Bobcats with 17 of the team's first-half 27 points. Ford went on a 5-0 run of her own, to close the deficit towards the end of the first half, using a layup in traffic, along with her first three of the game.
Towards the end of the second half the Bobcats went on a 18-7 run to cut the deficit to 80-69. During the run Ayriel Anderson hit three three-pointers as part of a 16-point evening. Her 16 points were a career-high, one better than her 15-point output against San Jose State.
In total, the second half of the game was pretty much a standstill with the Bobcats outscoring the Aggies 42-40. Raven Burns had a good showing with nine points, including a career-high two assists.
Texas State will return home on Thursday, Jan. 3, for its first home WAC game. The Bobcats will take on Denver at 6:30 p.m., at Strahan Coliseum.
