Women's Basketball Hot Start Not Enough In Loss To No. 17 Oklahoma State

– Despite racing out to an early 16-6 lead, it was not enough as the Texas State women's basketball team fell 90-55 to No. 17 Oklahoma State, Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.

 

Erin Peoples had a coming out party in the first 10 minutes of the game, outscoring the Cowgirls by herself, 8-2 through the first four minutes of the game. She finished the contest with 16 points along with six rebounds, a block and a steal.

 

The Bobcats led as late as 25-20 with six minutes to go in the first half before the Cowgirls went on an 18-6 run to close the first half, with a 38-31 lead. Toni Young chipped in for Oklahoma State with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

 

Out of the half, Texas State cut the lead to 46-40, before the Cowgirls were able to retake momentum of the game, going on an 8-0 run to take a commanding 54-40 lead.

 

Ashley Ezeh did her best to keep the Bobcats in it, with 14 of her 16 points coming in the second half. She has now scored 16+ points in back-to-back games.

 

Texas State looks to get on another winning streak, Saturday at 8 p.m., central, when it heads to UTEP to take on the Miners.
