Game Notes
The Texas State football team will play its first Western Athletic Conference game when the Bobcats return home to play Idaho in their annual homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 13. The game will be shown on ESPN3 and the Altitude Network. It will be played at Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium and kick off at 6:07 p.m.
THE TEAMS
Texas State enters the game looking to even its record to 3-3 this season after suffering a 35-14 loss at New Mexico on Oct. 6 and a 34-21 loss against Nevada on Sept. 29 in San Marcos. The Bobcats opened the season with a 30-13 victory at Houston on Sept. 1 and defeated Stephen F. Austin 41-37 after falling to Texas Tech in their home opener this season.
Idaho enters Saturday's contest looking to win its second straight game after the Vandals opened their WAC schedule with a 26-18 win against New Mexico State last Saturday. Idaho is tied atop the WAC standings with UTSA as both teams enter the weekend with 1-0 league records. The win over New Mexico State allowed the Vandals to snap an eight-game losing streak that began in 2011 and improve to 1-5 overall.
THE SERIES
Texas State enters this Saturday's game looking to win its second straight game against the Vandals and to improve its overall series record to 2-3 on Saturday. The series began in 1990 and a combined six points decided the first two contests. Idaho edged Texas State 38-35 in the first meeting on Sept. 8, 1990 in San Marcos and 41-38 in Moscow on Sept. 14, 1991. The Bobcats also suffered a 66-38 loss against the Vandals in Moscow, Idaho on Sept. 11, 1993 before defeating the Vandals 27-21 on Sept. 28, 1996 in Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcat Club has limited parking remaining on the West side of the football stadium. Each space in this area requires a $500 donation to the Bobcat Club. At the Bronze Level, benefits include a parking pass, two (2) meal tickets for a pre-game meal in the Sac N Pac room catered by Texas Roadhouse among other benefits for all home football games.
TEXAS STATE IN HOMECOMING GAMES
The Bobcats enter Saturday's game against Idaho with an all-time record of 43-31-1 in their annual homecoming game. Texas State looks to win its first homecoming contest since defeating Stephen F. Austin, 28-7, in 2009. The Bobcats suffered a 16-3 setback against Northwestern State in 2010 and a 23-10 loss versus the Demons last season.
TEXAS STATE IN BOBCAT STADIUM
Texas State enters Saturday's game with an all-time record of 108-77 in home games at Bobcat Stadium after posting a 4-2 record in 2011. That marked the second time since 2005 and 13th time overall that Texas State has won four home games in a single season since the stadium opened in 1981. The Bobcats also won four games in 2009 after setting a school record with nine home victories in 2005.
FIRST YEAR IN AN FBS CONFERENCE
Texas State, which has an all-time record of 493-411-26 since it began playing football in 1904, is playing its first season as a member of a NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conference in 2012 after announcing that it was moving to the FBS ranks in Nov. 2010. The Bobcats are in the Western Athletic Conference in 2012 before moving to the Sun Belt Conference in 2013. Texas State is eligible to play in a bowl game in 2012 depending on certain criteria. Texas State won two NCAA Division II national championships in 1981 and 1982. The Bobcats moved to the Division I FCS subdivision in 1984 and was a member of the Southland Conference from 1987-2010. Texas State played as an Independent in 2011.
TEXAS STATE vs. FBS SCHOOLS
Texas State looks to win its second game this season against an FBS school when it plays host to Idaho. The Bobcats won their first NCAA Division I FBS game for the first time since Sept. 30, 2000, when Texas State opened the 2012 season with a 30-13 victory at Houston. The previous win in an FBS game for the Bobcats was Sept. 30, 2000 when Texas State defeated Louisiana Monroe 27-7. The Bobcats own a 4-19 record against FBS schools after dropping last week's battle at New Mexico.
Texas State's first win against an FBS team came against Rice on Sept. 27, 1986 when the Bobcats won 31-6. Their second win came in 1996 when Texas State edged Idaho 27-24 in the Vandals' first season as an FBS member.
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's game, Texas State will have an off week before playing two straight Western Athletic Conference Road games at San Jose State on Oct. 27 and Utah State on Nov. 3.
Texas State's next home game will be on Nov. 10 when the Bobcats play host to Louisiana Tech. The kickoff time for the Louisiana Tech game will be announced later.
