San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State women's soccer team opened the 2011 season in impressive fashion, notching a 6-0 win over Prairie View A&M, Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in San Marcos. The six goals for the Bobcats were their most since Nov. 2, 2008 against Central Arkansas.

Serena Hines and Sydney Curry each had two goals, which are new career highs for them. Hines' first goal came off a penalty kick in the 24th minute, the Bobcats' second goal of the night. She added her second in the 83rd minute to give Texas State a 5-0 lead at the time.

Curry, whose sister Brittney is the all-time leading scorer for Texas State, scored her two goals, five minutes apart. The first game just 40 seconds into the second half, on a cross in front of the goal from Kendell Webber. She added her second on a pass through traffic from Felicia Leask.

Erica Michaud got the Bobcats on the board in the fifth minute hitting a shot off the cross bar which bounced back to her, allowing her to put the rebound in the net for her 18th career goal.

Webber rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats with a penalty kick in the 85th minute.

Last season it took Texas State seven games before scoring six goals for the year. It is their most goals scored in a season opener, as the Bobcats won their first game of the year for the third time in their last four tries.

Texas State looks to go to 2-0 on the year, Sunday night when they take on Loyola Marymount at home at 7 p.m. It is the only Sunday night game of the year at home, with every other Sunday game taking place at 1 p.m.

Fans who can't make it to the game can hear the broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM, for the second of seven games on the air this season.
