Soccer Begins Quest for SLC Championship Friday

Notes

San Marcos, Texas -
The Texas State soccer team looks to earn a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament Championship for the third time in the last four years, when it faces off against either Lamar or Sam Houston State in the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 in Natchitoches, La. As a result of the Bobcats' 8-1 record in conference play, they earned a first round bye as the No. 2 seed.

Last weekend Texas State went 2-0, defeating Southeastern La 1-0 in overtime for its first win against the Lions since 2008. On Sunday the Bobcats put away Nicholls 4-1, for its 11th win in the last 12 games, including seven straight.

Lamar enters the week, winners of its final two games, following a loss to Texas State on Oct. 23. The Cardinals beat Northwestern State and Central Arkansas last week.

Sam Houston State played just one game last weekend, scoring a goal against Stephen F. Austin, making it just the first time this season, the Lady Jacks gave up a goal in Southland Conference play.
