– Texas State men's basketball opens up Southland Conference play this Saturday as it hosts Northwestern State at Strahan Coliseum. Tip-off of the Bobcats versus the Demons is set for 4 p.m.

Scouting Texas State

Texas State (5-9) is on a two-game win streak with its most recent victory coming in an 82-70 victory over UT Pan American on Jan. 4. Cameron Johnson led all scorers in the contest with 19 points. The Bobcats are led by team captains Johnson and Tony Bishop; Texas State's top scorers and rebounders. Texas State has scored 72+ points in each of its last five games, going 3-2. The Bobcats are shooting 45 percent from the field and averaging 78.4 points per game. Last time the two teams met, Texas State won the contest 89-75.

Scouting Northwestern State

Northwestern State (8-7) is on a four-game losing streak with its recent loss coming on Jan. 4 to LSU-Shreveport, 83-86. Will Pratt led the Demons with 24 points, with Devon Baker adding 18 points. Northwestern State is averaging 78.9 points per game and 36.1 rebounds per game. The most points they have given up this season is 100 to Indiana on Nov. 26. Pratt leads the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game and William Mosley is the leading rebounder with 7.4 boards per game.

Flashback

Feb. 27, 2010 - Natchitoches, La. - #J.B. Conley# came off the bench to score a career-high of 42 points and Ryan White added 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Texas State men's basketball team to an 89-75 victory at Northwestern State in Prather Coliseum. Conley became the first Texas State player to score 42 points in a game since Lynwood Wade scored 42 points against Sam Houston State on Jan. 7, 1993. His 42 points also tied Bo Lamar for the third-highest total ever scored in Prather Coliseum.

Texas State shot just 38 percent from the field, but thanks to Conley's 42 points, the Bobcats' bench outscored the Demons, 57-17. The difference in the game may have been the 21 turnovers by Northwestern State; eight more than the Bobcats.
