Houston, Texas – The Texas State women's soccer team picked up its third straight win on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 victory at Houston Baptist. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 5-4-0, while the Huskies dropped to 2-6-0 overall.
Senior forward Britney Curry scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute from an assist by Kelsie Townsend to put Texas State up 1-0. It was Curry's third goal this week and her goal was the only one scored in the first period.
Junior midfielder Kelsey Bernard put Texas State up 2-0 after her shot went right under the crossbar to score a goal in the 68th minute. It was Bernard's second goal of the season.
Houston Baptist refused to be shut out, as Isla Cameron scored in the 73rd minute on a pass up the middle to give the Huskies their only goal of the game.
Freshman forward Felicia Leask scored her first career goal off an assist from Curry in the 86th minute to give Texas State its final goal of the game.
Picking up the win in the net was goalkeeper Lauren Frazier. Frazier recorded two saves in the game to earn her fifth win of the season. The Bobcat defense held the Huskies to just four shots on the day.
Texas State's next game will be on Sunday, Sept. 26 at TCU in Fort Worth. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
