Women’s Soccer: Prairie View A&M/Houston Baptist Preview

Bobcat soccer returns home this Friday, Sept. 17 to host Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. Texas State (3-4-0) will then hit the road to play Houston Baptist on Sunday, Sept 19 at 1 p.m.

Scouting Texas State
Texas State (3-4-0) is coming off a split weekend after dropping Friday's game to Louisiana Tech. The Bobcats responded on Sunday, routing Grambling State 5-0.

 

Texas State senior forward Britney Curry was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday. Curry led the Bobcat offense this weekend after recording an impressive four goals in just six shot attempts.

 

Goalkeeper Lauren Frazier recorded 10 saves on the weekend, and posted her second shutout of the season.

 

Scouting Prairie View A&M
Prairie View A&M (1-6-1) is on a three-game slid, after losing games against Lamar, Central Arkansas and Northwestern State. Three different players have scored one goal a piece, while goalkeeper Melissa Aguayo has the only win in the net for the Panthers.

 

Texas State leads the all-time series 3-0. The two teams last met in 2009, where the Bobcats won 5-0.

 

Scouting Houston Baptist

Houston Baptist (1-5-0) began the season with a 1-0 win over Sam Houston State, but has dropped its last five games entering this weekend.  Their offense is spread, with four different Huskies recording a goal this season. Shelby Horn has garnered the most starts in the net, but Lara Johnson has the Huskies only win.

Texas State leads the all-time series 2-0. The two teams last met in 2009, where the Bobcats won 2-0.

 

Up Next
Texas State will play at TCU on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. The game will be the last non-conference match for the Bobcats before beginning conference play.
