Women's Soccer Begins SLC Tournament Play Thursday

Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas
– The Texas State women's soccer team will attempt to play in its third straight Southland Conference Championship game, as part of the SLC Tournament hosted by Texas State from Nov. 4-7. The No. 4 seed Bobcats open up play on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. against No. 5 Sam Houston State.

Last weekend the Bobcats beat Sam Houston State 4-1 in Huntsville to close out the regular season.  Four different Bobcats got in on the scoring, including Britney Curry who scored her league leading 13th goal of the season. Curry also added an assist, giving her 30 points for the year, good for 25th in the country.

The last time the SLC tournament was hosted in San Marcos, the Bobcats played in the 4-5 game as well, that year as the 5 seed. Texas State was able to win its first two games of the tournament to advance to the championship game, before losing 2-1 to McNeese State.

Texas State is 13-5 all time in SLC tournament games, including an 8-2 record in its first game.

The winner of the game Thursday night will advance to play No. 1 seed Southeastern Louisiana. Game time for that match is also set for 7:00 p.m.
